After working hard a day we feel so stressed but we have to continue these for more 5 days then a day comes that are, a dream of students, a weekend of Office Men’s and Women’s that day is called Sunday.


So a question occurs, why on Sunday there is a public holiday today we discuss this,

According to our (Indian) Vedic Science, Every day of the week is dedicated to the major planets.

It means that out of a total of nine planets, Sunday is dedicated to the sun.

The Sun was given prime importance in most civilizations and people offer their prayers on this day, this tradition was common for almost all ancient civilizations.

As Sunday is a godly day, It is considered a holiday

Similarly, In Bible, there is a different version that after creating earth Lord Almighty took rest


How Sunday as a holiday apply in India?

In 1883, when India was under British rule, The workers (mill) in India had to work all seven days a week, and workers didn’t get any leave to rest a day, In opposite to this British officials or workers go to church every Sunday and offer prayers.


So, there is a person Narayan Meghaji Lokhande comes into the story, he is the leader of Indian mill workers, and he presented a proposal to the Britishers for a weekly holiday.

But British officials rejected his project.

But as we know that we Indians are hardworking and simply awesome same applies to Lokhande he continuously tried and after 7 years of struggle on June 10, 1890, the British govt announced Sunday as a holiday
