Charlie Chaplin Demise on 25, December 1977 after that as per Chaplin’s wish a private funeral ceremony happened on the 27th of December in the swiss village of Corsier Sur Vevey.

2 months after Chaplin's demise, villagers noticed that Chaplin's grave was empty and his coffin was not there. In the following few months, Chaplin’s widow Oona received around 27 phone calls from the thieves who demanded $600,000. Police agencies come into action monitoring Oona’s phone and 200 telephone booths nearby and hoping to catch the thieves.

Oona was not ready to give money to the thieves on the logic that Chaplin was found these demands ridiculous 

On 16th may Police successfully tracked down a thief and arrested him. He was a 25-year-old refugee from Poland. His name is Roman Wardas, and the police arrested this guy from one phone booth.

Police soon come across that there is a leader name Gantscho Ganev he is a Bulgarian immigrant who had assisted Wardas all this time he is the one behind this incident



Finally, both thieves admitted and said that they never wanted to harm Chaplin and Chaplin’s family claiming that it was only a way to solve their financial problem. They apologize for their mistake and they even wrote a letter to Oona expressing the same. Ultimately Oona accepts their apology and forgives them.
