Neeraj Chopra Returns to Competition with a Bang at Doha Diamond League

Neeraj Chopra, India's star javelin thrower, continued his impressive run of form at the 2021 Doha Diamond League. The event, held on May 28th, saw Chopra produce a season-best throw of 87.80 meters to claim the top spot in the men's javelin throw competition.
Chopra's performance in Doha was particularly noteworthy given that he was returning to competition after a year-long break due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 23-year-old, who won gold at the 2018 Asian Games and the 2018 Commonwealth Games, looked to be in fine form from the start, registering a throw of 83.03 meters in his first attempt.
Chopra continued to improve with each subsequent attempt, throwing 84.67 meters in his second attempt and 87.80 meters in his third and final attempt, which secured him the victory. His throw of 87.80 meters was not only his best of the season, but also the third-best throw of his career.
In addition to winning the competition, Chopra's performance also secured him a spot at the Tokyo Olympics, where he will be a strong contender for a medal in the javelin throw event. He will be hoping to improve upon his performance at the 2018 Asian Games, where he set the national record with a throw of 88.06 meters to claim the gold medal.
Chopra's performance at the Doha Diamond League is a testament to his hard work and dedication, as well as his ability to perform under pressure. He will no doubt be looking to continue his winning streak as he prepares for the Tokyo Olympics, where he will be representing India on the world stage.
